Youth Environment Program
Youth will be educated in the various aspects of climate change, clean energy, global warming, neighborhood sustainability, etc. There will be seminars, workshops, lectures and community forums addressing critical issues surrounding climate change and the environment. Environmental organizations, environmental lecturers, city, state and federal environmental agencies, university educators, school teachers, hip-hop artists, local media, etc. will be participants in the program. Summer environmental internship programs are also being offered.

“HIP-HOP & THE ENVIRONMENT”
LOCATION: MULBERRY COMMONS PARK (Newark, NJ)
MISSION: The celebration is aimed at utilizing the pioneering elements of Hip-Hop culture, the arts and the environment to unify the community and provide a path for a more peaceful, environmentally healthy and vibrant community. It serves as a platform for awareness of the planet’s crucial environmental condition. It is designed to educate our youth and community on local and global issues confronting our environment and quality of life.
DESCRIPTION: Our Community will be educated on the critical aspects of climate change, clean energy, global warming, neighborhood sustainability, etc. There will be a community forum presentation featuring a panel discussion, environmental showcase, Hip-Hop culture showcase with contributions from Hip-Hop artists, local environmental organizations, urban farms, political and community leaders. The event will feature environmental messaging through the Hip-Hop foundation elements art forms of MC’ing (rap), hip-hop dance/breakdancing, DJ’ing and graffiti art/urban art.
We are partnering with the City of Newark Office of Sustainability and their sustainability and environmental initiatives. We are also looking to support Greater Newark Conservancy, Ironbound Community Corporation, Solar One Inc., Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. and The Earth Institute (Columbia University); as well as other local, state, federal and global environmental organizations in our ongoing environmental programming.
